Green Club

Purpose

The Green Club of Erode Sengunthar Engineering College aims to promote environmental awareness and sustainable practices among students, faculty, and staff. It seeks to foster a sense of responsibility towards environmental protection and to encourage participation in activities that contribute to the conservation of natural resources. The club acts as a platform for students to learn, act, and lead initiatives that ensure a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable campus environment.

The specific purposes of the Green Club include:

  • Promoting awareness about environmental issues and eco-friendly living.
  • Encouraging active participation in environmental protection and conservation efforts.
  • Supporting institutional initiatives to maintain a clean and green campus.
  • Organizing and coordinating programs that address current environmental challenges.

Functions

The Green Club plays a pivotal role in integrating environmental values into the college culture. Its major roles include:

  • Awareness Creation: Educating students and staff on environmental issues such as pollution control, waste management, and biodiversity conservation.
  • Sustainability Initiatives: Implementing eco-friendly measures such as energy conservation, tree plantation, and waste segregation.
  • Community Outreach: Extending environmental activities beyond the campus to create awareness in the local community.
  • Collaboration: Working in coordination with governmental bodies, NGOs, and other institutions to strengthen green initiatives.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: Reviewing and reporting environmental practices within the campus and recommending improvements.

Responsibilities

The members of the Green Club are expected to:

  • Organize seminars, workshops, and awareness campaigns on environmental topics.
  • Conduct plantation drives and maintain green spaces within the college premises.
  • Promote waste reduction, segregation, and recycling practices.
  • Celebrate important environmental days such as World Environment Day, Earth Day, and Ozone Day.
  • Initiate energy and water conservation programs.
  • Organize campus cleanliness drives and plastic-free campaigns.
  • Encourage peer participation in environmental protection activities.
  • Document and submit reports on the club’s activities to the college administration periodically.
