Department of Bio Medical Engineering (NBA Accredited under Tier-I)
Message from the Head of Department

Dr. B. SARITHA,
Head & Associate Professor
Department of Biomedical Engineering
It gives me immense pleasure to extend a warm welcome to all of you on behalf of the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Erode Sengunthar Engineering College, an AICTE-approved and NAAC-accredited autonomous institution with over 30 years of academic excellence. In 2018, the college introduced a four-year full-time B.E. programme in Biomedical Engineering (BME) with an initial intake of 60 students, which was increased to 120 in the academic year 2023–2024.
The department is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) for the period from 01 January 2026 to 31 December 2028, demonstrating its commitment to academic excellence, continuous quality improvement, and the implementation of Outcome-Based Education (OBE).
The department is dedicated to addressing the evolving challenges of the biomedical engineering field by integrating engineering principles with medical and biological sciences. Our primary focus is to nurture students by providing strong academic foundations, practical exposure, and research opportunities that enable them to grow professionally and contribute effectively to the healthcare sector.
Biomedical Engineering plays a vital role in improving healthcare through technological innovation. Our department strives to create an environment that encourages innovation in areas such as medical devices, diagnostic systems, healthcare instrumentation, and intelligent computer-based healthcare technologies. Through this approach, we aim to bridge the gap between engineering solutions and medical needs, ultimately improving patient care and quality of life.
The progress and achievements of the department are driven by the dedicated efforts of our faculty members, researchers, and students. Their commitment to knowledge, research, and innovation continues to strengthen the department’s contribution to healthcare technology and biomedical research.
I am confident that with our collective efforts and strong academic framework, the Department of Biomedical Engineering will continue to achieve greater milestones in education, research, and healthcare innovation.
