About Us

The Department of Civil Engineering was started in the year 2002, with an intake of 60 students and is offering B.E. Civil Engineering. AICTE approved PG program (M.E. Environmental Engineering) during the academic year 2012-13 with an intake of 18 and (M.E. Structural Engineering) during the academic year 2023-24 with an intake of 24. The B E Civil Engineering and ME Environmental Engineering courses are permanently affiliated to Anna University Chennai. B E Civil Engineering course obtained NBA Accreditation status since 2013. The institute got Autonomous status from 2019 onwards and following Autonomous Curriculum.

The department strongly believes in imparting outcome based education to both the UG and PG students as well. Based on the Vision and Mission of the institution the department has framed its own Vision and Mission statement and Program Educational Objectives for all the programs.

 The department is supported by well qualified faculty team in various fields of specialization in Structural Engineering, Construction Engineering and Management, Remote Sensing and GIS, Environmental Engineering and Geotechnical Engineering.

 All the laboratories are well furnished with the state-of-art equipments with qualified Non teaching staff members. Research and Consultancy activities are undertaken by the department faculty in various areas and obtained concurrence letter from District Collectorate for material testing.

 Through effective teaching learning process the department produced thirty seven University Ranks in Undergraduate Program and Seven University Ranks including one Gold medal in Post Graduate Program under Anna University, Chennai.

 To fulfill the gap between the industry and Institute, through department students association programs like Technical Symposia, Seminars, Guest Lectures, workshops and conferences on the latest developments are conducting every year by inviting experts from the industry and institute.

 To strengthen the practical knowledge students are motivated to attend internship during their vacation. Apart from the regular industrial visits, Alumni are interacted with the students during their visit in the name of “Leaders Talk”.

 Students are motivated to attend various co curricular and extracurricular activities organized outside the institute. Entrepreneurship cell is effectively functioning in our institution to motivate the students to innovate new technical ideas which will help the society.

 All the faculty and the students are professional members in ISTE, Indian Concrete Institute and others.
