About Us

The Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in the year 1996. It has the state of art laboratory facilities equipped with high caliber equipment and machinery.  The department is collaborated with M/s Roots industry Coimbatore, M/s TVS Training and Services Chennai, National Skill Training Institute Bangalore and Advanced Training Institute Chennai to offer training to staff and students to improve their practical knowledge and skills. The department is an Approved Research Center by the Anna University Chennai to carry out the collaborative research. UG programme of BE Mechanical Engineering is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi since 2009 and is reaccredited in the year 2020 for a period of three years. Students are exposed to latest developments in the field of Mechanical Engineering by means of organizing symposia, seminars, workshops to enrich their knowledge. Apart from that, the students are trained in language laboratory to enhance their communication skills and in software packages to design and simulate and analyses the mechanical components.

The department is equipped with advanced equipment like Pin On Disc apparatus to study the wear characteristics of Engineering materials and composite materials, Emission analyser to determine the harmful pollutants in the Engine exhaust, Lathe tool dynamometer, Drilling tool, and milling tool dynamometers to study the various forces acting on the work pieces and IC Engines with eddy current dynamometer to study the performance characteristics under conventional and alternative fuel usage. Our class rooms are furnished with LCD projectors to improve the teaching – learning process. The department strives to provide conducive atmosphere for better learning.
The Department has a dedicated team of 32 faculty members out of which 6 faculties are the doctorate degree holders and 4 faculties is pursuing PhD.
